The third concert of our inaugural season will see Noe Music Artistic Directors Owen Dalby and Meena Bhasin team up with San Francisco-based cellist Peter Myers and PRCC’s Artistic Director, pianist Allegra Chapman, for a thrilling performance of Johannes Brahms’ Piano Quartet in A Major. It will be a rare opportunity to hear this monumental piece, such a giant of the repertoire in both length and difficulty that it is seldom programmed. Brahms envelops us in his characteristic warmth and symphonic textures. Themes unfold and evolve throughout the piece as Brahms transforms not only the music but the performers and listeners too.

In our opening concert, San Francisco-based pianist Jeff LaDeur brings his thoughtful and poetic playing to the beautiful Grotrian piano at the Point Reyes Dance Palace. His debut album was praised by Gramophone magazine as “… a masterpiece of understatement, simplicity and ‘old school’ chord playing where every note sings out with meaning.” Virtuosic and soulful works by Liszt and Franck, two titans of piano-writing, are the perfect vehicles to showcase both LaDeur’s artistry and the full capabilities of this incredible instrument that belongs to our Point Reyes community. Artistic Director Allegra Chapman will join LaDeur for Schubert’s life-affirming A Major Rondo for piano four hands.
